Biography
Dr. Helen Eckmann enjoyed very successful business careers at Raytheon, Union Bank and Jazzercise. Helen starting her own consulting business, James L Consulting, in the early 1990’s.
She received San Diego Business Woman of the Year from National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) in 2009. Helen started her college career later and experienced all of the joys and pains of being an adult student. Helen became full-time faculty in business upon receiving her doctorate degree in 2002 from the University of San Diego. Helen has always specialized her teaching around successful business experiences in strategies, innovations and supply chains. Helen has a certificate in supply chain from the University of San Diego, a certificate in evidence-based coaching from Fielding University and an additional certificate in supply chain from University of San Diego.
Helen has received “Teacher of the Year” awards nine times at all three major universities where she has taught. She specializes in designing and delivering classes that are practical, serious and strongly student learning-centered. She has a passion for student success. Helen has more than 2,500 contacts on LinkedIn. Most of those contacts are former students who keep her in the loops of their ongoing successes.
Helen and has a strong philanthropic spirit and has been feeding the homeless for two decades. She has volunteered thousands of hours to her professional connections through Institute of Supply Management, Sanford Burnham Cancer Research Center and the City of Del Mar. Helen has been married to her husband Jim Eckmann for 30 years and she has four successful children, two sons and two daughters, both of her daughters have received Ph.D.s.
