Biography
Melinda B. Flynn is an Assistant Director of Field Education and an Assistant Professor of Field Education in the Master of Social Work program. In this role, she places students in professional internships and teaches students as they navigate their internship experiences. Melinda has 13 years’ experience as a field educator, teaching in both online and on-ground programs. Melinda is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who began her social work career as a direct service provider in the HIV/AIDS services arena. After receiving her MSW in 1997, she worked for the next eight years as a mental health clinician for the VA Medical Center and has remained active in efforts to serve veterans and their families. Also, for the past 24 years, Melinda has worked independently as a mental health clinician, and an immigration consultant helping individuals and families as they seek asylum, cancel deportation, or apply for special visas for those who have survived domestic violence or other crimes. Melinda also conducts Mind Body Skills groups for veterans, employees, and the general population.
