Organizational Leadership
Patrick Ainsworth has served as Associate Dean and Professor at the University of Massachusetts Global since August 2021. Previously, he served as an adjunct professor, cohort mentor, and dissertation chair with the Doctoral Program in Organizational Leadership. Prior to his current position, Patrick worked as a consultant, with school districts, businesses, professional associations, higher education, and research organizations. His consultancy work focused on education policy, leadership development, career and college readiness, developing organizational capacity, and facilitating business-education partnerships.
Dr. Ainsworth served for 16 years as the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education within the California Department of Education. Patrick provided statewide leadership to secondary education, including high school and middle school, college preparation, adult education, postsecondary relations, career technical education, counseling and guidance, alternative education, visual and performing arts, gender equity, and workforce preparation. His responsibilities included high school reform, smaller learning communities, college and career readiness, Linked Learning, Partnership Academies, ROCP, business and labor partnerships, and administering various state and federal programs.
Previously, Patrick worked for the Riverside County Office of Education, as the Administrator of a countywide consortium of nineteen school districts. He served as a Principal-Coordinator, Instructional Specialist, high school counselor, and special education teacher of severely handicapped youth/adults.
Dr. Ainsworth earned his Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Management from University of La Verne (June, 2000). Patrick has worked with numerous state and national agencies and organizations and is a past-president of the National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium.
