Etesamnia has more than 30 years of broad in-depth experience in the leadership and management of information technology. He has held several senior leadership positions in computing and technology management at public and private higher education institutions.
Etesamnia joined University of Massachusetts Global and is the vice chancellor for information technology and chief information officer (CIO). Etesamnia will direct the planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized academic and business operations to achieve a more efficient and cost beneficial University IT operations.
Prior to joining University of Massachusetts Global, Etesamnia served for sixteen years as a senior leader at the University of Redlands, an independent liberal arts and sciences university. As chief information officer and associate provost he was responsible in providing administrative computing support, academic computing support, internet, phone, and system support to the university community. He was also responsible in overseeing services to the technology infrastructure to accommodate online teaching. Additionally, he had recently been responsible for overseeing facilities and construction management at the University of Redlands in the last five years.
Prior to his tenure at the University of Redlands he spent sixteen years at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. While there he directed all functions and activities within the computing resource center, managed cross-functional teams, led strategic planning to identify and meet the university information technology needs, implemented and maintained the university high speed network.
Etesamnia received B.S. & M.S. in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach.
