In addition, having an emphasis provides employers with insight into the type of work you are seeking and how your skills apply to their business. As an example, if you choose a finance emphasis in your UMass Global BBA, you will take a total of four finance courses (12 credit hours). This will hone your skills related to financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and other topics highly sought after by employers in the banking and investment industries. This will allow you to specify your goals when creating your resume or interviewing for a job. However, if you’d rather have a broader understanding of multiple areas of business, it could make sense to not choose an emphasis, instead taking four courses across the business school.
