Anita E. González, MSSW, LMSW, LCSW

Anita González joins the School of Arts & Sciences as Assistant Professor of Social Work and Assistant Field Director. Most recently she served as Social Work Continuing Education Coordinator at Andrews University in Michigan. Professor González has taught for Andrews University, Southwestern Michigan College, and Southern Adventist University. For three years she worked for the Office of Human Resources at Andrews University as the Training Development Coordinator, responsible for developing, coordinating, and collaborating with various departments on campus in the development and provision of professional development activities for faculty, staff, and student employees. 

Professor González spent several years working in the field of child welfare as a Professional Development Coach and Social Work Practice Specialist with the Tennessee Center for Child Welfare, providing intense pre-service training to new child welfare workers, in-services for the Department of Children Services, and training for private agencies and their foster parents, as well as coaching and consultation on various cases. She has years of experience working with children and adolescents in various settings including residential treatment, public health, psychiatric hospital, and foster care. 

Her professional experiences more recently include service as Behavioral Specialist for Bethany Christian Services of Michigan in the Refugee Foster Care Program, and Mental Health Consultant for Migrant Head Start Program. Professor González earned her Master of Science in Social Work and her Gerontology Certificate at the University of Tennessee, and her B.S.W. at Southern Adventist University.
