ALISO VIEJO, Calif. December 17, 2025 — University of Massachusetts Global (UMass Global) has once again been honored as one of the nation’s top institutions for service members, veterans, and their families, earning a place on the 2025 Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges list. Recognized for its robust support of military-affiliated learners, UMass Global is ranked 12th nationwide for primarily online education and 44th among private colleges in this year’s rankings.

The annual Military Times ranking is the most comprehensive assessment of higher education programs for veterans and service members, evaluating more than 300 schools across factors including academic outcomes, military student support, career services, and affordability.

The Best for Vets: Colleges rankings are widely regarded as an important resource for veterans and military-connected students evaluating their higher education options, with rankings based on student success metrics, institutional culture, military-specific resources, and the availability of financial assistance and flexible learning models. UMass Global’s recognition reflects its ongoing focus on accessible, career-relevant programs tailored to working adults, including those balancing service, family, and civilian careers.

UMass Global traces its roots to serving Marines stationed at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in 1958 and today delivers more than 55 fully online degree and certificate programs designed for busy adult learners nationwide. The university’s model emphasizes transfer-friendly pathways, credit for prior learning and military training, and attentive student support to help military-affiliated students persist and complete their programs.

During the 2024–25 academic year, more than 1,000 active-duty service members, reservists, veterans, and military dependents enrolled in UMass Global undergraduate and graduate programs, representing over 7 percent of the student population each year. The university also offers undergraduate tuition discounts of up to 50 percent and graduate discounts of 44 percent for eligible active-duty service members and their spouses in course-based programs, along with guidance on maximizing military education benefits.
