Ned Camuso Ph.D.

Biography

 

Dr. Ned Camuso is the associate dean for Student and Faculty Affairs in the School of Arts and Sciences. He is also a fully online and full-time assistant professor in humanities. Ned joined University of Massachusetts Global August 2010 as a part-time course developer and adjunct instructor in the School of Arts and Sciences. He currently teaches online communications, humanities, liberal studies, and political philosophy courses.

 

He completed his master’s degree in liberal studies at the New School for Social Research in New York City, where his work focused on the "Sociology of Culture and Politics in Nazi Germany and fin-de-siècle Europe." His doctoral dissertation, completed at the European Graduate School in Leuckstadt/Saas Fee, Switzerland, explored pre-9/11 media events in the United States.

 

Previously, he was a full-time faculty instructor in communications, media and politics at Lynn University’s College of International Communication in Boca Raton, Florida. There he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in communications theory, mass communication history, and mass communication technology. He has also taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Metropolitan College of New York and Berkeley College, both in New York City.

 

His current academic work focuses on the history of media and communication technology.

 

Ned lives with his wife, a social psychologist and graduate university professor, their cat, who enjoys watching television, and their teenage son, who has never had a cavity. Aside from being a proud dad, he enjoys wood carving and sculpting, riding his old motorcycle, good food, making wine, watching bad movies, discussing politics, and everything social media.
