Our expert today is Dr. Dania Baba, Associate Professor of Healthcare and Business Administration at UMass Global. Like many students, Dr. Baba once thought a career in healthcare meant becoming a doctor—but along the way, she discovered her real passion was behind the scenes: healthcare management. She started out as an administrative assistant in clinical labs and quickly worked her way up to Manager, then Administrative Director of Pathology and Labs. In these roles, she streamlined workflows, improved systems, and led major accreditation efforts. Her leadership skills then took her into human resources. There, she helped shape job descriptions, support career growth, and strengthen workforce planning. Eventually, Dr. Baba became Chief Operating Officer of a medical center, overseeing strategy, budgets, supply chains, and new clinical services. Today, she brings that hands-on experience to the classroom as a full-time faculty member and subject matter expert at UMass Global.
