Margaret Henning
Dr. Margaret Henning, joins the School of Health and Behavioral Sciences as Associate Dean, focusing primarily on student and faculty experience. A respected scholar-practitioner and global health leader, Dr. Henning brings over 20 years of experience designing, implementing, and evaluating health initiatives across 25 countries. Her extensive background spans public health systems, healthcare innovation, workforce development, and international partnerships.
Dr. Henning’s professional approach pairs data-driven decision-making with the lived experiences of individuals and communities. She has successfully led complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and managed interdisciplinary teams to create scalable solutions responsive to local needs. Passionate about bridging academic theory with real-world applications, she brings expertise in supporting faculty, developing curriculum, mentoring students, and fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Her research focuses on population health, community-engaged research, localization, workforce development, and digital health. Academically, Dr. Henning completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in International Health as a Takemi Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She earned a PhD in Health Promotion from Oregon State University, an MA in Health Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BA in Psychology from New England College.
Beyond her academic leadership, Dr. Henning serves as a Board Member for the New Hampshire Public Health Association (NH APHA) and contributes to national and global dialogues on healthcare access, community resilience, and public health innovation. Across all her roles, she remains dedicated to cultivating partnerships, mentoring future professionals, and translating evidence into meaningful action.
