“Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.” — Henry Ford

Non-compliant, resistant, and unmotivated are words often used to describe clients that appear stuck, despite voicing a strong desire to change. Through motivational interviewing, the objective is to resolve this ambivalence through a collaborative, goal-oriented approach that promotes behavior change. From the very first interaction with a client, there is an opportunity to shape perception on the possibility of progress, increasing the probability of self-sustaining behavior change beyond just the original scope of intervention. In this webinar, participants will explore both client and provider barriers to change and gain practical, evidence-informed strategies to navigate them with empathy, confidence, and clinical effectiveness.

In this webinar you will:
-Understand the core principles of Motivational Interviewing and how these challenge both the provider and client to facilitate change.
-Examine motivational interviewing techniques through a spectrum of examples, from a first therapeutic interaction to someone experiencing treatment fatigue and ambivalence.
-Develop a toolkit for change that increases client confidence, self-efficacy, and curiosity to promote sustained and flexible problem-solving skills beyond the therapeutic space.
