  • Compensation Systems
    A compensation system is part of a total rewards system that, if designed correctly, engages and retains talent for an organization. This course delves into the details of the direct compensation system, the money that organizations pay employees. It covers the elements of a compensation system, the advantages and disadvantages of base and incentive pay, how to price jobs, the legal and ethical aspects of compensation, and the issue of pay equity. Learners will engage with real-world scenarios and case studies as they learn how to design and adjust a compensation system.
  • Internal and External Equity        
    This course explores the requirements for internal and external equity in the workplace. In this course, learners will read about the gender wage gap, federal laws regarding compensation, pay transparency, and other components of the deeply nuanced subject. Pay equity has a long history that can be seen through the progression of laws, as well as the social acceptance of pay transparency. The course includes two case studies that will put the learner in a "hands-on" situation regarding pay equity through a pay audit.
  • Compensation Communication
    Effective communication regarding compensation and benefits is vital for any organization. Shortcomings in communicating total reward packages can result in a failure to attract or retain top talent, while effective compensation communication assists in improving employee morale, motivation, and productivity.

    This course will explore methods and strategies for effectively communicating compensation and rewards, both company-wide and with individual employees. Topics in this course include alignment among key compensation documents, communicating about pay equity, the advantages and disadvantages of pay transparency, supporting managers in compensation decision-making and communication, and special considerations when communicating medical and health benefits to employees.
