Managing Your Organization's Human Capital

The UMass Global Master of Science in Human Resources degree prepares you to manage, support, and reward an organization's most valuable asset — its people. You'll learn strategies to attract and retain the best people, while developing collaboration across your employee base. Employees today expect more from their company/employer, and the HR specialist plays a vital role in that relationship. In this MS degree, you'll take nine core HR courses, such as Talent Management and Workforce Planning, and then choose three electives either with additional human resources courses or from elsewhere in the business school.

In the MS in Human Resources program, you will

  • Apply an integrated and systems-oriented approach to human resources that aligns and supports business strategy.
  • Assess the impact of globalization, multiculturalism, and multi-generational workforce attributes.
  • Design strategies to ensure workforce capabilities and performance are aligned with organizational needs.
  • Build strategic partnerships that address complex business needs and meet corporate social responsibility, ethical objectives, and legal considerations.
  • Evaluate business data to make effective strategic decisions that align with organizational goals.

Testimonials

My desire to go back to school was personal. Both my mom and dad graduated from high school, and I’m the first in my family to go on for my college education. I want to be a positive role model for my children. I can do all three – work, family and school; I didn’t have to choose.

Business Administration, MBA

Going back to school helped me get out of my comfort zone. It helped me get past the "we've always done it that way" mentality. I learned that I needed to innovate personally, professionally and to help other become more innovative.
