Doug Perez

Doug Perez is a seasoned data and cloud technology leader, educator, and entrepreneur with deep expertise in data analytics, databases, machine learning, and cloud architecture. Sometimes known as “The AZ Data Guy”, Doug has worked with everything Data from A to Z and is based in Arizona. Doug has worked closely with enterprise clients to architect scalable, efficient data platforms and to derive actionable insights from high-value datasets. He holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Master of Science in Data Science and an MBA, reinforcing a unique blend of technical depth and business leadership. Doug is an AWS Authorized Instructor Champion and Mentor and holds or has held over 25 professional certifications. He has worked teaching and mentoring professionals in data analytics, databases, and machine learning topics across North and Latin America. He is known for his ability to make complex cloud and data concepts accessible to learners at all levels, often teaching in both English and Spanish. Doug has also contributed to academia as a Professor and Faculty Advisor for undergraduate and graduate programs, where he helped shape curricula and guide students pursuing advanced degrees. His background includes work in high-profile technical environments, and he has developed training materials for platforms such as Microsoft, Snowflake, and AWS. In his spare time, Doug is a lifelong lover of animals who fosters dogs and cats and has volunteered with major animal rescue organizations. Previously, Doug was a one-day champion on Jeopardy! with Alex Trebek and he enjoys other trivial pursuits.
