Madiha Jamil

Madiha Jamil, PhD, is an Associate Professor at UMass Global with over 14 years of experience in K–12 school counseling, counselor education, and educational leadership. She specializes in preparing future school counselors through data-driven, equity-centered practices that promote academic achievement, career readiness, and social-emotional wellness for all students.
Prior to joining UMass Global, Dr. Jamil served as the Director of School Counseling and Assistant Professor at the University of Hawai‘i, where she led the design and implementation of a comprehensive, ASCA-aligned school counseling licensure program. In that role, she developed and taught graduate-level courses in cross-cultural counseling and social-emotional learning, chaired diversity and equity committees, and secured state approval for licensure pathways.
Dr. Jamil’s professional expertise includes culturally responsive pedagogy, counselor supervision, program development, and student advocacy. She has led district-wide counseling initiatives in public school systems, supervised hundreds of counseling professionals, and implemented early intervention strategies to support at-risk youth. She is also a certified Restorative Justice Facilitator and cultural competency trainer, with a strong commitment to serving historically marginalized communities.
She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Hampton University and holds an M.Ed. in School Counseling and a B.A. in Psychology from George Mason University. Dr. Jamil is a published researcher and frequent presenter at national conferences, with scholarly interests in digital mindfulness, educational equity, and transformational leadership in school counseling.
