UMass Global’s commitment to the military student goes back to 1958 when we opened a campus at El Toro Marine Corps Air station to serve the specific needs of our active-duty students. We are continuously expanding our network to provide you with the best support programs that help you succeed both in uniform and in the classroom.
Air Force: AU-ABC
The Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative Program (AU-ABC) is an initiative between Air University and University of Massachusetts Global to offer baccalaureate degree opportunities to enlisted Air Force personnel with a completed Associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).
Air Force: GEM
The General Education Mobile (GEM) program is a partnership between the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and University of Massachusetts Global to deliver general education coursework required for the CCAF degree. The program includes online courses from each of the following disciplines: oral communication, written communication, mathematics, social sciences, and humanities that meet the CCAF’s pre-approved general education requirements.
ArmyIgnitED / Army COOL Program
Active Duty Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard personnel are eligible for up to $4,000 of financial assistance from the Army Credentialing Assistance Program, which is part of the Army Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) service.
- Obtain an industry-recognized certification that shows you are an expert who can successfully perform the key job requirements in your field and anywhere the military life takes you.
- Enhance your skills, either in your current MOS, or in an occupation you would like to pursue when you leave military service.
- Online programs can be accessed anywhere, anytime
Troops to Teachers
University of Massachusetts Global is an active partner with Troops to Teachers, a U.S. Department of Education and Department of Defense program that helps eligible military personnel transition to a career as a public school teacher. The skills, knowledge, and experience one gains in the military are highly valued in our public schools.
Tuition Assistance Program
University of Massachusetts Global offers Tuition Assistance (TA) to cover 100 percent of undergraduate tuition for active duty Service members and spouses, as well as members of the Reserve and National Guard. TA is available to active duty*, National Guard and Reserve Component Service members. Graduate students, who are on active duty, National Guard or Reserve also qualify for reduced tuition rate. Top up is available for those with qualifying VA benefits.

*All active duty, which includes Reserve and National Guard, must contact their (Education Service Officer) ESO, or Education Counselor, within their own branch of service prior to enrolling in any college or university. In order to receive the military tuition rate, students must submit documentation to verify eligibility. All documents need to be submitted to the One Stop staff at your University of Massachusetts Global campus location. If sufficient documentation is not submitted, tuition rates will remain at regular tuition status.
