We proudly support the mission of Troops to Teachers by helping service members transition into teaching careers — even as the national program evolves.

Supporting Military-to-Education Pathways
UMass Global is proud to support Troops to Teachers — a federal initiative that helps service members transition into K–12 teaching roles. While the program’s national structure has evolved, our commitment remains strong. We continue to guide veterans and military-connected individuals into teaching careers with tailored support and flexible academic pathways.

About the Program
Established in 1994, the program is currently managed by the Department of Defense through the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES). TTT provides career counseling, certification guidance, and—when available—financial support to eligible participants pursuing a first-time teaching role in public, charter, or Bureau of Indian Education schools.
Eligible participants include:
- Current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces with honorable service
- Individuals interested in instructional or non-instructional roles in pre-K through 12th grade settings
- Those meeting additional federal criteria for financial assistance
TTT offers support through:
- A national and state-based network of counselors
- Guidance on state certification requirements and pathways
- Referrals to education job listings and employer connections
- Limited financial assistance for classroom entry (based on funding availability)
