Anita González, MSSW, LMSW, LCSW

Anita E. González, MSSW, LMSW, LCSW is an Associate Professor and Assistant Director of Field Education in the Social Work Department. She has over 15 years of experience in higher education, and she is fully licensed in the state of Michigan (LMSW) and in the state of Texas (LCSW) as a clinical social worker.
Anita González has over 20 years of experience working in the field of social work, including working in residential treatment, public health, foster care, early childhood, and hospice. She also has experience working in the area of professional development, including working with the Tennessee Center for Child Welfare providing training, coaching, and consultation for the Department of Children Services (DCS) and local private agencies contracted by DCS; and also working for the Office of Human Resources at Andrews University as the Training Development Coordinator, responsible for developing, coordinating, and collaborating with various departments on campus in the development and provision of professional development activities for faculty, staff, and student employees.
Anita González earned her Master of Science in Social Work and her Gerontology Certificate at the University of Tennessee, and her Bachelor of Social Work at Southern Adventist University.
Anita González’s current role and responsibilities include preparing students for their practicum, developing and maintaining agency partnerships, teaching field practicum courses, and monitoring field placements. She is currently part of a committee whose responsibilities include supporting and developing professional development opportunities for agency partners, and she is also a Faculty Advisor for the Phi Alpha Honor Society.
