Program Overview

This course will provide the basic concepts and skills to be productive with Microsoft Outlook. This includes how to communicate via email messages, organize contacts, and arrange schedules. Also included are more advanced concepts such as how to organize Outlook items, use advanced message properties, and collaborate with others.

This course maps to the objectives of the Microsoft Office Specialist exam for Outlook.

This course is taught with UMass Global’s LIVE ONLINE training format using a video communications software. Students receive the same high-quality training as found in a traditional classroom setting.

Upon successful mastery of this course, you will be able to:

  • Create email messages, act on those received, add content to messages, and use signatures.
  • Store information about other people using contacts, use contact groups, and the People pane.
  • Set, manage, and assign tasks to others.
  • Use the calendar to schedule meetings and manage appointments.
  • Use customization options for the ribbon, change interface options, and manage messages using Quick Steps.
  • Organize Outlook accounts, folders, and categories using advanced searching and filtering features.
  • Manage the inbox and configure junk mail filters, create rules, and utilize cleanup tools.
  • Utilize advanced email settings such as message properties, delivery options, styles, themes, and stationery.
  • Organize work with notes and journal entries.
  • Use Outlook’s collaboration features, such as item and calendar sharing, mail merges, and integration with social media services.
