Brandman University is aware of statements posted to private Twitter and Facebook accounts by an individual claiming to study at the university. We are currently investigating this individual and will follow university policies and processes in addressing the situation.
Based on an initial review of the statements, Brandman University finds them offensive, insensitive, uncalled for, racist, and not representative of the institution’s values and vision. Our institution values diversity, equity, and inclusivity. We do not condone or promote senseless and targeted violence. We are here to support members of our community who have been affected by the unfortunate events surrounding the death of George Floyd and countless other acts of racism.
We will continue to do our part to educate our students, stakeholders, and community members on matters relating to inequality, police brutality, and other injustices in an effort to be part of the solution to these national issues. As an institution that prepares members of law enforcement to advance in their careers, we take seriously the need to ensure cultural competency and equity are integral elements of our curriculum. We pledge to honor the life of George Floyd by empowering others through education.
