Dr. Marnie Elam

As a full-time faculty member at the San Diego and Palm Desert campuses of University of Massachusetts Global, Dr. Elam teaches in and oversees the undergraduate and graduate programs in psychology. She began her career as an adjunct in 1994 and accepted a full-time faculty position in 2000. During that time Dr. Elam has created and taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate psychology courses on-ground, online, and in the blended format. Dr. Elam received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, CA in 1993. She became a licensed psychologist in 1995. In addition to teaching, she has provided psychological services in a variety of settings, including a school, the San Diego Job Corps, several Adult Day Health Care Centers, a short-term residential treatment center, community clinics, and in private practice. Dr. Elam has several interests in the field of psychology including cognitive-behavioral therapy, crisis and trauma treatment, psychopathology and diagnostics, and positive psychology.She is also certified in several areas in clinical practice.Her certifications include:Certified Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias Treatment Specialist, Certified Disaster Mental Health Treatment Specialist, and Certified Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Specialist.
