Biography
Aimee Massafra is an assistant professor of education in the Special Education program at UMass Global, and serves as the ABAI VCS Coordinator for the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program. She has 15 years experience in education, 9 years as an adjunct instructor teaching online master’s level courses in ABA and special education programs, and 6 years as an educator working in K-8 settings. Aimee received her Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 2019. While earning her doctorate, she completed the necessary requirements to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Aimee has experience working as a BCBA supporting learners with autism in school, home, and clinic settings. As a special educator, she has experience working with learners with mild/moderate disabilities and moderate/severe disabilities in both elementary and middle school settings. After receiving her M.Ed. in Special Education from PennWest University (formerly California University of Pennsylvania), Aimee had the opportunity to open an Autism Support Classroom in a small rural school district in Southwestern Pennsylvania. These experiences have driven her interests, which include working with individuals with autism, parent-school partnerships, special education collaboration and leadership, ABA, paraeducator training and evaluation, pre-service teacher training, and in-service teacher training.
