CTEL & CLAD Certificate Program Overview
The CTEL Authorization & CLAD Certificate is a four-course, fully online program that prepares California teachers to support the diverse language and academic needs of our English learners in today’s classrooms. We offer multiple start dates to give you flexibility in your education, life, and work schedules.
- Design curriculum to assist students in developing their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English.
- Use culturally responsive teaching practices to foster positive interactions among culturally and linguistically diverse students.
- Gain a deep understanding of the factors that affect second language acquisition in order to promote language proficiency.
- Study the current approaches and strategies appropriate for content area instruction through specially-designed instruction delivered in English (SDAIE).
Who Should Enroll:
- Any K-12 teachers that have not cleared their CTEL/English Learner authorization.
- Teachers that want to deepen their understanding of methodologies to support English language development and culturally responsive education.
What To Expect:
- Students are required to apply for graduate admission and provide a copy of their teaching credentials before beginning this program.
