”Hurt People Hurt People. Restorative Justice Mends the Hurt.”
Restorative justice is an approach to addressing harm that centers on healing, accountability, and repairing relationships rather than punishment alone. It asks: Who was harmed, what are their needs, and how can we repair the damage? In this webinar, participants will explore how restorative justice challenges power imbalances in systems such as criminal justice, education, and child welfare, and learn practical ways to apply these principles in social work and behavioral health settings.
In this webinar participants will:
-Analyze the role of decolonization in reshaping social work practice through restorative justice
-Apply restorative justice processes using a human rights approach to promote healing and accountability
-Examine the influence of Indigenous traditions on modern restorative frameworks
-Identify systemic power imbalances within criminal justice, education, and child protection systems and analyze their impact on behavioral health practice
