Expand Your Teaching Options

Authorized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, the Multiple Subject Added Authorization provides additional training to teachers who have already earned a Single Subject Credential in California and want to expand their knowledge to teach multiple subjects. You’ll gain a foundation for teaching literacy and language in K-8 classrooms. Plus, you’ll select one course from a specialized area of interest — either mathematics or science, or a combination course of history, social science, and visual/performing arts — for additional focus. Candidates will need to demonstrate subject matter competency to earn their Multiple Subject Content Authorization.

As a student, you will:

  • Develop skills in teaching reading.
  • Learn how to teach mathematics or science; or history, social science, and visual/performing arts to K-8 students.
  • Gain the expertise to teach in multiple subject, K-8 classrooms.
