Added Authorization, Multiple Subject Credential

This authorization program, comprised of just two courses, is designed for teachers who already hold a Single Subject Credential in California and want to teach in both multiple- and single-subject environments.

Multiple Subject Program Overview

The Multiple Subject Added Authorization broadens your qualifications and provides greater opportunity for career advancement without having to complete an additional credentialing program. The coursework provides a foundation for teaching literacy and language in K-8 classrooms. You will also select one course from specialized areas of interest, including mathematics, science, or history, social science and visual/performing arts, and must demonstrate competency by passing the CSET Multiple Subject and RICA exams.

As a student, you will:

  •  Develop skills in teaching reading
  • Learn how to teach mathematics, science, or history, social science and visual/performing arts to K-8 students
  • Gain the expertise to teach in multiple subject, K-8 classrooms.

My academic advisor was a great support system. He was my advisor throughout my master’s program and he took the time to learn about me personally so we could make the best schedule to accommodate my life.
