University Business covered higher education leaders’ views on how universities can improve students’ chances of success by awarding academic credit for knowledge students acquired before taking classes with a given institution. The article reports on the views of experts who explain that since many college and university students already have credits on their transcripts, or relevant military or work experience, they don't necessarily need to start from scratch when enrolling a new college or university.

The July 22 article included insights from UMass Global consultant Nancy Salzman, who previously led the Partnerships Office for Applied Innovation as its executive vice chancellor. Salzman participated in this year’s ASU+GSV Summit, an annual convention for people working at high levels in the education and technology fields, and University Business reported on the views she and other notable higher education figures shared during one of the event's panel discussions.

“With Credit for X, we bring to the table not just K through 16 but also the employers who want to have corporate training and the industry associations that are behind the certifications," Salzman said in the article. "This is the perfect opportunity to bring everyone around the table.”
