Program Changes
During the course of your enrollment at University of Massachusetts Global, you may find it necessary to alter your academic program - change majors, add an emphasis, change a catalog year, etc.
The first step to adjusting your program is contacting your academic advisor. Advisors will help you review important information and provide you with the necessary steps. Once you’ve spoken with your advisor you can:
- Check program offerings
- Review the academic catalog
- Review degree requirements by running a “What If” Degree Works Audit on MyUMassGlobal
- Contact your campus One-Stop to check how program changes may affect your financial aid (if applicable)
- Inform your campus’ VA Certifying Office of any changes to ensure eligibility of VA funds (if eligible for benefits)
Undergraduates
Contact your academic advisor if you are considering:
- Adding or Changing a Major/Minor or Area of Emphasis
- Adding an Associate of Arts or Applying for a Bachelor’s Degree
- Students currently seeking an Associate of Arts degree and wishing to apply for a bachelor’s degree also must submit an application for undergraduate admission.
- Changing a Catalog Year
- The catalog year assigned to students is determined by the student’s date of admission. Students must meet the degree requirements for their catalog year. As with any other program changes, your first step is to contact your campus academic advisor. They will assist you in determining the difference in the general education and degree requirements for a different year. Keep in mind: a) You must chose a later catalog year then when you enrolled at University of Massachusetts Global; b) Students that leave UMass Global, and later reapply, are not automatically eligible for the original catalog.

- Changing a Master’s Degree or Graduate Emphasis
- Reach out to your One-Stop Specialist to review possible implications of the changes
