UMass Global partners with school districts, county offices, charter schools, community organizations, and behavioral health providers across California and nationwide. By serving as the university partner for grant-funded workforce development programs, we help drive talent pipelines in education and behavioral health — supporting teachers, counselors, administrators, mental health providers, and peer support staff with high-quality training and pathways to advance their careers.

Education-Focused Grant Programs

  • Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Grants: Eligible classified employees may receive grant stipends towards degree and credentialing-related expenses such as tuition, fees, books, and examination costs for a bachelor's degree and/or teaching credential at UMass Global.

  • Diverse Education Leaders Pipeline Initiative: Eligible candidates can earn a preliminary administrative credential through the diverse educational leadership pipeline initiative and transfer their PASC into our MA, Educational Administration program.

    • Early Childhood Teacher Development: Eligible candidates can receive funding towards tuition for a BA in Early Childhood at UMass Global or BA in Liberal Studies, Multiple Subject Emphasis (with w/Early Childhood coursework electives).

      • Teacher Residency: A viable pathway for teacher retention is through teacher residency. This allows eligible candidates committed to serving in the partnering district for four years to receive a grant stipend for living expenses/tuition through teacher residency.

      • School Counseling Residency: A sustainable pathway supporting the mental health and wellness needs of the Pk-12 community is through counselor residency. As one of the first counselor residency partners in the state, we are pleased to share our grant partnerships provide stipends towards tuition and/or living expenses.

        • Santa Clara County Office of Education
      • District/ Organization Funded: Our partners at UMass Global work with us to provide funding sources that support the educational pipeline in areas such as math, science, special education, art, music, and world languages.

Behavioral Health-Focused Grant Programs

  • Community-Based Workforce Grants: Recruitment, retention, training, and stipends for behavioral health professionals—serving Medi-Cal and underserved populations.
  • Peer Personnel Training Programs: Placing individuals with lived experience into meaningful behavioral health support roles.
  • Residency Training: Supporting clinical training for psychologists, counselors, and social workers.
  • Loan Repayment and Scholarship Initiatives: Providing pathways for professionals benefiting from loan repayment or tuition grants.
  • National and Statewide Partnership Opportunities: Collaborating with organizations across the country where grant programs support mental and behavioral health workforce growth.
