Dr. Allison Smith is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at University of Massachusetts Global. She has been deeply involved with the California Council on Teacher Education (CCTE), serving on the Board of Directors, the Policy Committee, and planning conferences. Dr. Smith is the Past-President of the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities with Education programs (AICCU-ED) and is the Editor of the Issues in Teacher Education journal.

Dr. Smith’s current research focuses on aspects of clinical practice, including the CalTPA and video mentoring. She is also involved at the national level with the Association of Teacher Educators as a Clinical Practice Fellow. Her involvement at the state and national levels, as well as serving as the editor of an international peer-reviewed journal, keeps her informed and current in the field of education.

Prior to her work in higher education in California, Dr. Smith was the Director of Assessment and Teacher Education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She collaborated with many community organizations, including the Clark County Black Caucus, Workforce Development, and Career and Technical Education teacher pathway development. She was also the PI on a large-scale state-funded grant focused on diversifying the teacher workforce, with a focus on community and parent involvement.
