Biography
Dr. Lata Murti is Associate Professor of Sociology for the School of Arts and Sciences at University of Massachusetts Global. She led the revision of the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology Program, designing a competitive and cutting-edge curriculum with practical and professional relevance. The recipient of UMass Global’s 2015 Outstanding University Faculty of the Year Award, Dr. Murti has received recognition for both her pedagogy and her publications, from organizations such as the National Institute of Learning Outcomes Assessment, the National Center for Institutional Diversity, and Universal Publishers’ Dissertation.com, which selected her dissertation on the racial experience of Indian immigrant doctors for its 2015 Annual Excellence Award. Dr. Murti holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in American Studies and Ethnicity from the University of Southern California. She has presented at numerous conferences related to teaching and sociology, in addition to publishing on these topics for several peer-reviewed journals, the SAGE Research Methods Cases collection, Asian American Society: An Encyclopedia, and the Work in Progress blog of the American Sociological Association.
