Lynn Larsen, Ph.D.


Dr. Larsen earned her doctorate at the University of Maryland after teaching middle, and high school special education for six years. Since joining University of Massachusetts Global in 2004, Dr. Larsen has served as full-time faculty for the Riverside campus, the university’s Faculty Personnel Committee vice-chair and became a full professor in 2017. While serving as associate dean from 2010-2017, she oversaw programs in special education, school psychology and counseling, CLAD/CTEL, and the Master of Arts in Education. She was awarded University of Massachusetts Global’s Outstanding Faculty of the year for service to the university and was the first education adjunct faculty to be awarded the Non-Senate Faculty Researcher/Lecturer Collaborator of the Year, at UC Riverside. She has been involved in numerous scholarly presentations and publications in teacher and program assessment. She was involved in the development of the Performance Assessment for California Teachers. She teaches and develops courses for the special education masters and credential programs. She is a Board of Institutional Review member for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

In addition to her work for the university, Dr. Larsen serves on the Riverside Chambers of Commerce Business Education Partnership Committee, and the steering committee for the Riverside College and Career Fair. She has run Christian education programs, and founded a performing arts program for children. She was a coach and district coordinator for Odyssey of the Mind, an international creativity program. The teams coached with her husband Paul won numerous regional and state titles, and advanced to the World Finals. She now serves as the volunteer state director for the organization, overseeing 10 regions with 700 competing teams.
